This and that.
Sep. 19th, 2011 02:06 pmOverheard during the lunch rush during my second week at my PX booth: "I wonder if I yell 'hey, shitbag!' and see who turns around."

A lady wearing a halter dress with a regular bra. That's fashion??
--
Another lady who points to a fuzzy sweater ($27) and asks, "This is ten dollars?" (The one beside it was.) I reply, "No, ma'am, that's 27." "This one?" (An identical scarf.) Me: "That's 27 too. The prices vary based on the materials used and the time it takes to make them." Her: (unnecessarily snooty tone) "Oh." And walks away. Rrgh.

Sgt Cheapskate, my first haggler. Apparently I'm a pushover (or maybe just inexperienced?) but this butthead haggled me down to $23 for two adult-regular hats and two child scarves and he blatantly undervalued my work. And they were two child-size hats and then after he pays he asks for bigger ones and ARGH. I should have charged him extra. Plus, neither of the transactions I've done using the Square thingy--including Sgt Cheapskate's--have gone into my checking account. (At least the other one was stuff I'd already made, though one is a hat I made for the National Transplant Assistance Fund and they'll get their $25 anyway.)
...and I just checked and according to the Square website they deposit the money every evening...WHICH DIDN'T HAPPEN...so now I'm stuck making undevalued products for this asshole AND NOT GETTING PAID FOR IT. ARGH.
Let's just say I'll only be taking cash from now on. Fuck Square and the horse it rode in on. I checked Square and they say my shit's in order. I check my banking info and it tells me just the opposite.
A double whammy of suck.

But I have had a few more sales, which is good, so at least I can buy lunch at the PX without having to go into checking for that. It is getting colder, and I'm told it could be a shorter fall and longer winter than last year, so maybe more people will be coming in to warm up. And for gifts. It's September and already people are looking at certain pieces with loved ones in mind. And since I'm not taking cards any more, I suppose it's a good thing I'm towards the back of the PX "mall" area, almost to the Commissary, since there's an ATM nearby.

Well, I hope some of that made sense. There was some other stuff I was gonna write down and now I've forgotten.
Just know that while I've been spending my time at my shop, and on Tumblr a lot at home, and watching DS9 again, I haven't left DW or LJ completely, just...more sporadic than usual.
--
Also, I think I'm gonna spend the next spring and summer making longer-lasting, more detailed stuff after this--stuff for myself, for Chris, for family members.
Well, depending on how sales go overall. This winter will show if it's worth the time and expense.
