And maybe if they'd give the candidates longer than 90 seconds or two minutes or whatnot to actually answer the question ful--oh, who am I kidding? Three quarters of what's said in a debate is rehearsed talking points regardless of the question.

HEY, the moderator could threaten to cut the candidate's mike unless they promise to actually answer the question! And they'd have the on/off switches to back it up!
