FUCKBUGGERCRAPBOLLOCKSGODDAMMIT
So I mentioned to my mom that I wanted to go ahead and renew my FLORIDA driver's license while I'm here (and before I go back to Sarasota for my last few days here) and my mom mentioned that she had to have her birth certificate, marriage license, and PROOF OF ADDRESS like a bill or something. ARGH.
I am a military spouse. An army wife, to be specific. There are no active army posts in Florida, and even if there were, WE'RE STATIONED IN NEW YORK.
The new law regarding military spouses and state residency gives us the right to keep our residency (you'd think this would be a given all along but who gives a shit about military spouses? They're mostly women after all). (Unless of course you are from a state with no state income tax and you want to work off post in a state that does have state income tax, then you have to switch over so the state government can tax your income. Which is why I found a way to work on post so I can fucking stay Floridian.)
Well, I don't have copies of my birth certificate or marriage license on me anyway (though I think my mom has copies of both), and I don't have a Florida address. My mom's address is on my current license, and I was living here at the time. But now you have to have PROOF OF ADDRESS to get/renew your license. FUCK FUCK FUCK.
I'm off to The Google to see what can be done so that I can still drive as a FLORIDIAN MILITARY SPOUSE. I have until my birthday (late November so that gives me time) to figure this shit out.
Chris and I are thinking of driving down here in July to spend time with both our families since Chris hasn't been back to Florida since we left for Alaska, so hopefully I'll have my DL shit together by then.
I didn't have to deal with that bullshit back in '07 the last time I renewed my license. What the fuck have the Republicans been doing here while I've been doing my they-also-serve-who-sit-and-wait thing?
