One meme, two times.
The meme:
night_owl_9's questions:
If you could pick a place (anywhere in the world) to live for a year, where would it be?
Melbourne, Australia, definitely! Either during a deployment or with Chris. In large part because that's where Fizzy is, and I'd dearly love to meet her in person, but also to see if it's a place where Chris and I could emigrate permanently (but still visit family when we could afford to) and feel welcome.
What are you looking forward to the most in 2011?
Spring and summer craft fairs. I want to have booths full of merchandise, and sell it! Also to hopefully have a booth at the PX during the holidays, since I already know my scarves and such sell in such a market. :)
How do you think you have changed in the past ten years?
Well, I know I've gone up a few cup sizes (unfortunately). :P
When 2001 began, I was seventeen years old and a junior in high school. Since then I've graduated from high school, failed to become a United States Sailor, graduated college with a two year degree that I've yet to use, lost my virginity, had real relationships and had friends with benefits (I prefer the former), been engaged three times but only married the last one (thankfully!), worked various retail jobs, and lived in two states (Alaska and New York) that I never thought I'd live in before marrying Chris.
I've matured a lot. I've grown a lot. (Except up--I hit five feet tall in eighth grade and haven't grown an inch since.) I've had wonderful times that I never thought I'd have (or deserve) and awful, horrible times that at times took away my will to live, but I have living and I intend to live forever.
So far, so good. ;)
What is your current favorite song?
"Hey Jealousy" by the Gin Blossoms. It's awesome in its own right, but it's also the song that my absolute favorite Paris/Kim (Star Trek: Voyager) slashy fan video was made to.
How did you and your husband meet?
I met his identical twin, James, first, back in kindergarten. He was in my kindergarten and first grade classes, and he used to follow me around like a smitten little puppy. In hindsight it was freaking adorable, but at the time it was just annoying. Boys are yucky, you know! We did get along, though, and even had a pretend wedding one day at recess.
Fast-forward to third grade. I hadn't seen James since first grade, and my third grade Gifted class had done a project called Discovery Box that we invited one of the Special Ed classes (I'm not sure if it was emotional-special or intellectual-special, or why James and Chris were put in it, but anyhow) to view, and Gifted and Special Ed spent the day together. I had lunch with James and met his identical twin, Christian (he prefers "Chris" though), for the first time. Our table was the only one where anyone from the two classes mixed. (James and Chris were a lot easier to talk to than the other Gifted kids, especially the girls, who'd always be talking about other girls that I didn't know, since I and one or two other kids were bused to another school for Gifted once a week. If I didn't bring a book to lunch with me, I'd talk to the boys or just watch them play with their food. Much more interesting.)
I didn't see either of them again until my junior year of high school. In Science, I heard James's name on the roll call, and I thought it'd be cool to see him again, and James and Chris and I were assigned to the same table. It was Chris and I who hit it off. James had turned into a bit of a butthead, though he's much better now. Chris and I became best friends and still are (yes, Fizzy is my best friend too, and I have the same friend/romantic feeling for her, but this question is about Chris).
And then, to cut an even longer story short (I can link you to a place where the long story is if you're interested), he waited for me through relationships and friends with benefits. He was there for me throughout the Dayne Saga in person, and as I came out of that I realized that Chris had been The One all along (I hadn't known I was poly then) and we got together over the phone (Chris was still in the Air Force at this point), and later on, in '06, he came to live with me in Sarasota. After several months of civilian life, he decided that this sucks, it's too expensive, he wanted to go back to the military. The Air Force only wanted prior-service people for Special Forces stuff, so Chris went Army. We got married, he went off to boot camp, and once he was done with his A-school we were off to Alaska. Three years later, here we are in New York.
Okay, so that was the whole love story, not just the meeting story...but there it is.

Three things that annoy you about Fizzy?
1. A tendency to beat a topic into the ground, especially one she's really knowledgeable about. Most of the time that's okay because the topic is interesting (Aussie history or military knowledge, TV shows I'd never know about otherwise), but sometimes the topic is not and she still wants to talk about it (horses, dogs, certain kinds of music, firefighting). Not a huge deal, but you said annoy, not totally piss off.
2. Though this one is kind of off-pissing: a tendency to not drop a topic four times out of five until she is done talking about it, no matter how many times I try to change the subject.
3. There's also the matter of me mentioning things like Christian cherry-picking (hello pre-during-and-post Council of Nicaea!) and being called offensive and line-crossing for stating such a thing.
Three good things about her?
1. She's smart. So fucking smart. Puts my brain to shame. And she enjoys learning!
2. She's a fantastic writer, whether it be poetry or prose. I wouldn't be surprised at all if she became Australia's Edna St. Vincent Millay. And she's got such talent to spare that she's helped me with my own stories. :)
3. She's also really fucking beautiful. I know that's shallow and probably anti-feminist to point out her appearance, but since I'm interested in her romantically as well as amicably, the physical form is a consideration. Lovely eyes, thick hair that I'd love to ruffle, a gorgeous smile. And lovely, perky little boobies that could well be a perfect handful for me. ;P) (Fizzy, if you'll allow, I can post a picture.)
Three things that annoy you about Chris?
1. He gets frustrated really quickly, whether it be work, the computer, or his video games. And that frustration gets directed at me when there's an error in communication. (He usually apologizes before I can develop a full head of steam enough to really bitch back, though.)
2. Whining for sex. Always with the whining for sex! I'm sorry that I have such low sex drive. It annoys me too! But if I don't want it, I can't make myself want it, not even after two hours of porn (I know this from experience). I' sorry that "in the mood" turns into "every other full moon or so," but there's nothing I can really do about it. I know you understand, because I tell you this a few times a month, but you always forget and go back to the sex-whining.
3. He gets annoyed at me asking him to do things like check the mail and take the trash can in and out on trash days. Really? I do everything else, including going to the mini-mall to do laundry. You're already dressed for outside since you leave the house every day for work, it's not too much to ask for you to take a few extra steps on your way.
Three good things about him?
1. He's as much fun to look at as Fizzy is. Fantastic, grabbable bubble but, nicely shaped legs, and his face is just adorable, and sexy from the proper angle (which is in bed, close enough for me to not need my glasses) with the eyes and the brows. Excellent arm candy. :)
2. He's so sweet that if any other man had tried some of the things he says (like "sweets for my sweet"), I'd call busllshit on them. But Chris really, honestly means it. And he really does love me just the way I am, not just because he says so, but also because he keeps feeding me junk food. :P
3. He's a geek's geek. Smart and dorky as all get-out. He's got the comic books, the video games, the anime, the science fiction...it's so awesome to have someone to talk to about the minutiae of Star Trek politics...even if sometimes that conversation happens in bed.
What do you most want to happen this year?
That would be a three-way tie between (a) Chris not deploying at all, (b) getting out of debt, and (c) Fizzy visiting us or us visiting Fizzy. I don't know how likely any of those things are (at least this year), but they're what I want most in the Multiverse.
→ Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
→ I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
→ You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
→ You'll include this explanation.
→ You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.
